FISH FRY

Ingredients:

For the fish:

  • 500g (1 lb) white fish fillets (tilapia, cod, or catfish work well)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp turmeric (optional)

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice or vinegar

For the marinade:

  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste

  • 1 tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)

  • 1 tsp coriander powder

  • ½ tsp cumin powder

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp garam masala or fish masala

  • 1 tbsp rice flour or cornflour (for crispiness)

  • 1 egg white (optional, for extra crunch)

  • Salt to taste

For coating (optional):

  • Semolina (rava) or breadcrumbs – for a crisp outer layer

For frying:

  • Oil – for shallow or deep frying


👨‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Clean and Marinate the Fish:

    • Rinse and pat dry the fish.

    • Rub with salt, turmeric, and lemon juice. Let it rest for 10 minutes.

  2. Apply the Masala Marinade:

    • Mix all marinade ingredients.

    • Rub the marinade evenly on the fish.

    • Marinate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight in the fridge for better flavor).

  3. Optional Coating:

    • Just before frying, coat each fillet lightly with semolina or breadcrumbs.

  4. Fry the Fish:

    • Heat oil in a pan on medium flame.

    • Fry fish on both sides until golden brown and crispy (about 3–4 minutes per side).

    • Remove and drain on paper towels.

  5. Serve Hot:

    • Garnish with lemon wedges, onion rings, and fresh coriander.

    • Serve with mint chutney, tartar sauce, or ketchup.
